Optus announced in December 2005 that it had signed a long term agreement with ABC Corporate Care to provide childcare services for children of Optus employees nationally. The centres under the program are located at the Optus head office in Macquarie Park and near the Optus offices in Adelaide and North Sydney. ABC Corporate Care will continue to build and manage childcare centres specifically for Optus employees' children around the country. The centres will offer care to suit the specific needs of Optus staff in each location.
 
The agreement with ABC Corporate Care demonstrates Optus' commitment to integrating family friendly policies across the company. Optus strives to be an employer of choice and this initiative ensures their workplace is as flexible as possible for families - quality childcare is a key concern for many of their employees.
 
Optus is always looking for ways to provide a work/life balance. Access to quality childcare had been raised as a key concern for many of their staff so this initiative assists their employees' lives whilst juggling career and family life.
 
The Optus child care centres provide cost effective childcare for children aged 0 to 5 years.
 
Martin Kemp, ABC CEO Operations, said that ABC is excited to provide its high quality early childhood services for Optus families.
 
Optus has designed specific policies to assist employees manage their family and work responsibilities. These include - paid maternity, paternity and adoption leave, flexible working arrangements (including part-time employment, job-share and working from home) as well as an internal website which assists staff in locating resources such as home help and health and wellbeing.
